Events of the Guards Band, Helsinki

The Guards Band is a 40 musician strong symphonic wind orchestra. The band is part of the Guard Jaeger Regiment and is responsible of the music in state events and Helsinki area military functions. In addition to representative duties the band performs yearly in roughly 40 concerts. The band has established the Töölö concert series presenting modern classical wind music and the Kaartin Soittokunta festivaali held in the Suomenlinna fortress in July which presents all aspects of wind music. The Guards Band also performs around Finland and abroad with both concerts and figure marching shows. The band is directed by its chief, Major (mus.) Raine Ampuja and conductor, Captain (mus.) Sami Hannula.
