Helsinki Pride

Helsinki Pride is the biggest GLBT event in Finland. It is held every year on the last week of June and is with its over 19 000 visitors also one the biggest week-long events in Helsinki. It is organised by volunteers at Helsingin seudun SETA ry, a non-profit GLBT organisation in Helsinki. Helsinki Pride consists of parties, meetings and discussions, highlight being the Pride Parade across the city centre. The free expression of one's sexuality and gender as well as the promotion of rainbow subcultures are at the core of the festival agenda. The challenge in Helsinki Pride is in bringing different kinds of people together to discuss and debate even on some touchy subjects. There is not just one right way of being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered. Diversity, it's promotion and strengthening is one of Helsinki Pride's main goals. The journey begins on the 27th of June!
